I simply refuse to leave friends or acquaintances in the past, in particular the ones that had great influence on me. How one can just stop talking to a person only because there is no proximity?
Of course we have less things in common and almost nothing to discuss anymore, but how can you just stop talking to people with whom you spend so much time together until a certain point? High school friends, work colleagues, AIESEC people, neighbors…
Its awkward when I say “Hi” and have no plan what to say after this, but how else to keep in touch to people that were close before?

One day, a man was walking through the forest. He runs into another man that was cutting wood with an ax. The ax looked unsharpened so the first man asked the man that was cutting the trees – why not sharpen the ax? He could then cut trees faster and easier.
No time for that – the answer come. I have to cut down so many more trees …

Sometimes we get so caught up in the small things, in urgent things that need to be solved fast, fast, fast and we do not give ourselves time to think, to sharpen our skills, to improve or change the tools we already know. We just go ahead with what we have and suffer disillusionment when a lot of effort brings so progress back.

I guess every AIESECer knows it, as well as many others since it has millions and millions of views on YouTube. The video comes in different versions, with different visuals, but the message stays the same as well as the result it has on me after I watch it.

A close friend gave me an advice that I value a lot: do not tell people about your intentions, do not announce how great something will be or on what you plan to work, do not share your major goals with everybody. Do it and people will see

You want better results in your work? Study more, work more – don’t just announce your intentions. You want to loose weight? Start your diet once for all and stop presenting your intentions … or at least keep it to yourself until the first noticeable results, later you can share your goal. You want to climb a mountain? Start taking the stairs, use those 10 floors buildings. You want to get a new certificate or learn how to master a new tool? You search for a new job? You search true love? Look at Ted – searching for the mother of his children for too many seasons now …have your goals in mind and focus on them. One does not have to spread their intentions to thin air.

Protect your goals and intentions, and work on making them a reality. People will see, sooner or later, what your goals are by the results you show. Another reason to keep your goals private is to avoid the negative thoughts, opinions and doubts of others. People laugh, people discourage, even the ones that wish you only the best. Failure is as well less important if you are the only one that knows it.

Until now, I though that announcing intentions will make me feel more responsible and strive more to keep my promises or reach my goals. His advice is starting make more and more sense.

About an year ago I have discovered the 3D printing technology, even if – it exists for about 10 years now and for about 8 it’s on the market. At that time I spent a lot of time searching more information, more images or more video about it.

Why am I mentioning 3D printing now?
A few days ago I had in my hand some pens that were created with the 3D printing technology and they worked pretty well

In a few words, what is 3D printing? Replication of real objects. Its quite similar to the technology that we currently use for printing our lovely documents or images, only that its in freaking 3D.

For example, you put in a nice pair of shoes and the printer makes a new pair with exactly the same characteristics.

Same goes with more complex objects. The wheels below actually spin.

What is interesting is that a device priced at around US$25,000 five years ago is now available for only US$1000 – making it an attractive entry level device for much broader usage.

The raise of 3D printers have to be consider by numerous players of the current world as it might change the current look of some large industries.

And if you think that is cool … well just a few weeks ago, researchers at the Vienna University of Technology have developed a method for fabricating intricately structured sculptures as tiny as a grain of sand in record speed using the 3D printing technology.

I do not know why this type of search is not famous yet since it’s available for many years now.

How do you use it? Most image search engines give you the option to include the url of a image or to upload image from your computer. Next step: press search and results pop up. My favorites:

http://www.tineye.com – I mostly use it because results are clean. Simply upload the image you are searching for and press search.

http://images.google.com – the option of reverse image search is always available for every Google image search. Put mouse over the little photo camera symbol that you can see on the right side of the search box and you will see the option “Search by Imagine”. From here – same steps: paste link of the imagine you are searching for or upload and wait for the results.

With a search on the key words: reverse image search you can find more platforms that offer you related results. Some can track the location of an imagine or can provide you similar images (patterns and colors).

*article dedicated to a friend in need
